Electronics Engineering

The Electronics Engg(EL) Dept was established in 1998 with an intake of 60 students in the Diploma program. The Dept has qualified and experienced faculty. The staff members are deputed to participate in workshops, conferences and refresher courses to keep in pace with the recent development in the field of Electronics Engg. The Dept has good infrastructural facilities and is equipped with full-fledged laboratories. The Dept library has an extensive collection of books and journals. The department conducts supplementary technical programs, industrial visits, technical exhibitions, seminars and invited talks in current topics.
The focus of the Diploma programme is on with adequate emphasis given to Electronic Design’. EL department of EKNM Polytechnic College is prestigious with the latest Synopsys tools to cater various specializations and is equipped with facilities for measurement, characterization and synthesis of experimental as well as theoretical results. Smart classrooms equipped with LCD projectors, podiums and book racks bring out an improved quality of learning. Excellent library facilities are available which constantly aid in research and technical growth. The department offers PIC Microcontroller training; industrial visits and trainings are conducted from time to time. For effective student guidance and counseling, an advisory system is introduced. Regular meetings of parents and teachers are conducted to assess academic performance and other issues related to students welfare.
This is the basic and the core laboratory, which introduces a student to the world of electronic circuits and equipment. This laboratory emphasizes the students to the skills of designing, developing, and testing wide range of electronic circuits using test and measuring instruments like DSO , function generators, digital multimeters, LCR meters, etc. Electronic circuits of systems such as rectifiers, filters, amplifiers, oscillators, are analysed in this laboratory.
Analog IC &Communication Engineering Laboratory
Anlog IC lab deals with different op-amp (IC 741) based circuits and also deals with circuit based on analog IC 555 and different analog voltage regulator ICs.
The communication engineering laboratory deals with experiments in analogue communications. The students are introduced to different types of modulation techniques like AM and FM ,and Demodulator etc.
In Digital Electronic Laboratory, the students are led to the interesting world of digital IC circuits. It facilitates an in depth analysis of sequential and combinational type of digital electronic circuits. These include circuits with flip flops, counters, shift registers, sequence generators, code converters, etc.
This laboratory introduces the students to microprocessors, microcontrollers and assembly language programming. Various experiment with 8051 microcontroller, interfacing them with stepper motor, ADC, DAC, etc. are carried out in this laboratory. It also has the facility to train the students with macro assembler (MASM/TASM).
This lab is meant for students to conduct experiments in the field of VLSI and Embedded systems. The Lab is equipped with FPGA boards like Sparton starter kits, Computers, Design software, Xilinx ISE, PIC microcontroller development board, AVR ATMEGA boards etc.

Industrial Electronics&PLC lab
With an overview of the basic principles of electronics and circuits designing techniques, the emphasis is laid on various facets of power electronics using SCR’s,UJT’s,DIACS,TRIACS etc. A programmable logic controller, PLC  is a digital computer used for automation of typically industrial electromechanical processes, such as control of machinery on factory assembly lines, amusement rides, or light fixtures. This lab gives clear idea about the PLC.
PCB Design and Spice Lab
This lab gives a clear idea to the students how to design and make a printed circuit board. Students also make a mini project ,such as simple hardware circuit ,after constructing the PCB from this lab.
A library is functioning in the department with latest text and reference books on various streams of Electronics Engineering. These books are issued to the students and staff of the department.
